The Tranquility is the culmination of over 30 years experience in building energy efficient homes, and is HIA GreenSmart accredited. The Home Team’s principle architect, Len Goulding, is also a GreenSmart Accredited Professional, and insists on using energy efficient principles wherever possible.

The Home Team specialize in Passive Solar design, which involves converting free energy from the sun into useful cooling, heating and ventilation for your home, all without having to use active mechanical systems such as air conditioning or mechanical ventilation. Passive Solar is a major component of green building design.

The Tranquility is full of Passive Solar design features, which help to keep the home at naturally comfortable temperatures year round without using air conditioning. Situated over the homes central living area is a thermal chimney, which cools the home during the warmer months by using natural airflow to expel warmer air while simultaneously drawing in cooler air. This is complemented by extensive use of cross ventilation in key areas of the home, as well as evaporative cooling from bodies of water positioned outside, helping the air inside to stay fresh and cool during the summer. The tranquility is also designed to take advantage of thermal storage, with the rear floor slab and brick internal walls positioned to receive sunlight in the winter and shade in the summer, which helps to keep internal temperatures consistent and comfortable.

The Tranquility has five bedrooms, including two master bedrooms, with one on the ground floor and another on the first floor. Both master bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, and the second is perfect for guests, parents, or older children. The home also includes a convenient upstairs study area and viewing window onto the downstairs living space. Being a family home designed to accommodate alternate ways of living, Tranquility has been specifically designed so that individual family members can live in complete comfort and privacy within the same home if they so desire.

A unique workstation placed adjacent to kitchen and living areas is ideal for children’s home work and computer usage, or for those who like to multitask and find themselves working from a computer at different times during the day.

Other features include a sound proof home theatre and expansive family lounge and dining areas that open out completely onto a covered alfresco area, outdoor kitchen and adjacent pool, creating the perfect space for entertaining.

The large internal kitchen features a walk in pantry and an island bench that extends into the alfresco living space to maximise entertaining potential.
